Hygge – the art of cozy.
It’s not a new concept, in fact Pinterest is full of inspo. The Danish concept of cozy, comfort, and contentment is commonly associated with the ‘cozy’ months however, hygge can be applied to more than just my favorite season, a.k.a fall. While many people see summer as a break from school, life, whatever, so many of us make summer hectic. Trying to squeeze in trips to the beach, visiting relatives, entertaining your kids, etc. This summer I’m taking a step back and learning to savor the little moments. So here’s my personal list of how I’ll find hygge even in the hottest months.
10 Way to Find Hygge in Summer
- Campfires – enjoy gooey s’mores and the crackling fire
- Laying on blankets and looking at the stars – take in the chirp of crickets
- Catching fireflies – kick off your shoes and run barefoot through the cool grass
- Relax in a hammock – now is a good time to kick off that summer reading
- Watch the clouds – find shapes in the clouds and take in the beauty of the bright blue sky
- Sip on ice tea – try fun fruit flavors or stick to the basic
- Ride your bike – around the block, on the beach, through a park
- Visit a farmer’s market – pick up fresh veggies and fruits for dinner
- Take an afternoon nap – inside or outside, let a breeze in and treat yourself to a refreshing nap
- Have a picnic – invite friends, make it a party, and enjoy the outdoors
